Apps as Food Safety Consultants are Coming to a Phone near You!

Software companies are developing applications that can act as food safety consultants of a sort for smart phones and computer tablets. These apps, which are targeted toward training employees, control and inspections procedures and product sourcing, are gaining interest among restaurateurs and food service operators. At very low costs per app, these instructional aides and mini advisors are an inexpensive yet state of the art method to assist restaurants and food and beverage establishments maintain safe food handling practices. Here are 3 food safety apps as discussed by a foodservice expert in the latest SmartBlog on Restaurants: “Inspect2GO’s new app for iPad, iPhone and Android tablets uses a standard template that is modified based on specific aspects of food safety that a restaurant needs to track. “More emphasis is being placed on food safety certification of restaurant staff. The Food Safety Test by Northern Softworks is a $2.99 app that helps employees study for exams similar to what may be required by local jurisdictions.” “FoodLogiQ.com takes a different twist by focusing on traceability and the farm-to-market concept popular in sustainable agriculture. It has a Food Safety & Quality app for tracking audits, certifications and food safety reports, but it also has created a website, Goodgrowinglink.com.” Read more about these mini food safety consultants in a phone here. Are you an owner, operator or restaurant safety expert currently using food safety applications on a smart phone (i.e. Android) or computer tablet (i.e. iPad) for your food and beverage establishment?
