Industry leaders, hotel consultants and others involved in the hospitality and travel industry are giving applause and kudos to the announcement by President Obama on the new “National Travel and Tourism Strategy” for the USA, which is designed to attract more international visitors here. It seems Washington is now starting to get it when it comes to growing the national economy with more tourism. What better way to create jobs than off money that is brought in from another country. Just announced in Florida this week, the key points of the “President’s plan” as published in Hotel Interactive includes the following: Expanding and making permanent the Global Entry program. Increasing efforts to expand the Visa Waiver Program and travel by nationals eligible to participate in the Visa Waiver Program, including through nomination of Taiwan to the program. Increasing non-immigrant visa processing capacity in Brazil and China by 40 percent in 2012. Creating an interagency government task force to work with Brand USA to promote travel and tourism opportunities in the U.S. to create jobs. Read more here if you are owners and operators or hotel consultants looking for ways to incorporate the new strategy as part of your hotel management services. Do not overlook Brand USA either, which is behind making the new strategy a success. It is promoting marketing messages to incorporate into your hotel marketing plan, such as the “United States of Awesome Possibilities” recently announced back in November. Or, if you or your hotel consultants have more marketing ideas about Obama’s planned USA tourism strategy, please share it below or contact me directly.
