Several choices include publications we have consulted over the years as well as those that may be helpful if you are starting up, investing in or providing advice regarding a hospitality related business. Books on shelfOne reference manual available under the Hotel Publications section is a comprehensive source for hotel real estate investors and lenders titled “Hotel investments: A guide for lenders and owners.” It is full of guidelines, lists and valuable resources to plan, develop, operate or buy hotels and resorts. Another book titled “Tourism and Hotel Development in China: from Political to Economic Success” provides good oversight into the booming Chinese hotel and tourism market over the last ten years and going forward. In the Restaurant Publications section, there are several Excel spreadsheets and business plans for different foodservice operations, such as Sushi, Pizza and Mexican concepts. Another compelling story is the documentary “Eat This New York” which covers the trials and financial hardships of owning a restaurant that two business partners can face. On the nightclub publications side and in addition to the hotel advisors and restaurant references for owners and investors is “The Little Black Bar Book: A Comprehensive Guide to Starting, Owning and Operating Your Own Bar or Nightclub.” There are also several comprehensive studies including “The 2009-2014 World Outlook for Pubs, Clubs, and Nightclubs” as well as selective individual ones for different global markets, such as China, India and Japan.
