If you are looking to find issues that a hotel receiver might face and other topics, check out the new index search recently unveiled for articles and related information at the Receivership News. This is a quarterly publication that is produced by the California Receivers Forum for both its members and the general public to view. I am a Past President and current Board Member of the Bay Area Chapter of CRF and recommend it for attorneys, lenders, receivers and others who deal with troubled and distressed businesses both in and out of California. In the current and past issues of the Receivership News there is specialized and informative research on alternatives to reorganization, such as what duties are performed by a court appointed receiver. There are also many articles, which can be found among this library online, that deal with the different types of receiverships including mine as it relates to a hotel receiver: For example in the Fall 2010 Issue there is an article on a limited purpose hotel receivership titled “Using a Limited-Purpose Receivership to Collect Hotel Transient Occupancy Taxes” that I wrote as a result of my appointment by a City in Northern California near San Francisco. I also wrote about “Understanding the Unique Challenges in Operating Hotel and Restaurant Receiverships” several years ago which can found by searching the title keywords. If you are a bank, special servicer or lawyer considering receivership as a remedy for a troubled hotel, I offer a webinar for at least 10 persons that will address what a hotel receiver does, the outcomes to expect, and more. Please submit a request below and I will contact you directly about my availability.
