Our focus this week in bar and nightclub management contains excerpts from the 2011 Nightclub and Bar Convention held in Las Vegas back in March. The best ways to stay on top and new trends in beer crafting dominated the industry talks among owners, operators, promoters and suppliers last month. Here are some of those tips and trends we believe can help your food and beverage operation become even more successful: According to Tom Leykis, radio host of the Tasting Room, “in order to be the best you have to provide entertainment and be a good showman.” In his “10 Tips to Get Business Owners Started” we like #9 – Never forget showmanship, it’s the most important thing you do and #10 – People aren’t looking to drink, they’re looking for fun” and recommend both be included in your bar, nightclub and restaurant business planning and management services. On the product side “Crafting the Perfect Beer List” will put some zing in your day-to-day marketing and bar and nightclub management. As reported in this article, “Market trends in beer have changed, and craft beer is the hot ticket. The latest figures released by the Boulder, Colo.-based Brewers Association for the first half of 2010 show that while overall U.S. beer sales were down about 2.7% by volume sales, craft sales were up 9% by volume, and an impressive 12% by retail sales. Craft brewers said for years that craft beer was “an affordable luxury,” and it looks like they were right.” Are you seeing an uptick in your beer sales as an owner, manager or expert in operations? If so, what beer trends, ideas or promotions have you incorporated as part of your bar and nightclub management to increase those particular beverage sales?
